Jason Baron & Carl Sagan

Carl_sagan Remember Carl Sagan? He was probably the most famous astronomer of the modern era, known for the phrase "Billion and Billions" when describing stars and other cosmic phenomena. Now this phrase is coming back into vogue to describe the ESI Universe.

The man responsible for managing and sorting a cosmic storm of email, Jason Baron, often talks in terms of the Billion or more e-mails he expects the Obama administration will turn over to his agency, the National Archives and Records Administration. Thus it is only fitting to note that Jason met Carl as a child and is a big fan of astronomy. Just one of many things I learned last week when presenting with Jason to NASA.

For more on Jason and the problem of astronomical numbers in e-Discovery, see the blog I posted yesterday: Jason Baron on Search - How Do You Find Anything When You Have a Billion Emails?
