FTI Surveys In-House Counsel on Streamlining EDD

FTI has released a new study — "Advice From Counsel: an Inside Look at Streamlining E-Discovery Programs." The majority of respondents worked for Fortune 1000 companies with e-discovery responsibilities. Some survey highlights:

1. the major challenge for companies is gaining control of the e-discovery process and budget predictability;

2. improving the e-discovery process and having a single point of contact is important to companies. To that end, companies are narrowing the field of outsourcing providers;

3. companies are increasing corporate oversight and hiring employees with e-discovery titles to own the process;

4. document review is the number one cost concern;

20137945.thb6. the biggest issue for companies with predictive coding is defensibility;

7. multinational ligation is important to companies and so they are only working with providers that can support it from cradle to grave; and

8. companies are taking a holistic view of the e-discovery process via information governance.
